Season 2 Episode 6 | Holding on to Hope (how hope can regulate your nervous system)
Episode Summary
Your chest tightens as you reach for your phone again. Nothing.
You put it down, try to focus on something else, then pick it back up a few minutes later. Maybe you've missed something, or maybe there’s an email you haven’t seen. Perhaps the answer has come while you weren’t looking.
But it hasn’t. So your mind fills the silence instead and you start running through what could happen. You start imagining what you’ll do if it goes wrong, what you’ll do if it goes right, and somehow, before you’ve even got an answer, you’re already exhausted by every possible version of a future that hasn’t happened yet.
The thing is, waiting for an answer is rarely just waiting. Uncertainty can pull you into a constant internal negotiation between fear, frustration, anger, and the desperate need to know what happens next. And because none of those feelings arrive neatly or take turns showing up, trying to work out exactly what you're feeling can become another thing to manage.
Here's what most people don't realize: sometimes the way through uncertainty isn't to get control of every emotion that's showing up. It's to stop treating each one like a problem that needs to be solved before you can move forward.
And then, sometimes, something else appears.
Not certainty. Not an answer. Just a small opening.
A maybe.
Maybe you can do this. Maybe there is a way forward you can't see yet. Maybe you don't need to know how the story ends to take the next step.
That's where hope comes in. Not as a promise that everything will work out, but as a moment of possibility when your nervous system has been carrying uncertainty for too long.
Nothing outside of you may have changed, but for a moment, something inside you does. There is a little more room to breathe, a little more certainty that things might just be okay. A tiny little more space for what might still be possible.
In this episode, we're exploring why uncertainty can feel so destabilizing, what happens when multiple emotions collide inside the nervous system, and why trying to pin down and control every feeling can leave you even more overwhelmed.
We'll also explore the role hope can play when there are still no answers and how learning to pause with that feeling can help you stay connected to yourself in the middle of the unknown.

The Invitation
This week's pause is to take a moment and lean in and just feel the hope, just let it be there.
Just allow the hope to be a body, surrender to it, breathe in, breathe out, and just sit with it for as long as you can.
If you can put 3 minutes on the clock and sit with it, wonderful. If not, any amount of time is great. Work up to your 3
minutes. So, sit with your hope, and listen to what stories it tells you about how amazing you are, and actually how capable your are.
Work With Muneeza
If this episode resonated, you might be exhausted from living in the space between what is happening now and what you hope will happen next.
Maybe you're constantly preparing for the worst so you won't be caught off guard. Maybe you've learned not to let yourself hope too much because disappointment feels too painful. Or perhaps uncertainty sends your nervous system into overdrive, leaving you caught between trying to control everything and feeling completely powerless.
But you don't have to stay trapped in that cycle.
Inside somatic coaching, we can sit with the patterns that make uncertainty feel so overwhelming. Together, we explore what happens inside you when you don't have the answers, why your body reacts the way it does, and how to create enough safety that you can stay connected to yourself without needing certainty to feel okay.
Because when you learn how to meet uncertainty differently, hope becomes the breath of fresh air that allows you space to become creative.
If you're ready to understand your patterns and build a different relationship with the uncertainty you're carrying, I'd love to work with you.
