About Muneeza Khimji — Somatic Coach & Psychotherapist

Emotional Resilience | Nervous System Regulation | Mind-Body Healing

You know that feeling when something happens and your body reacts before your mind can catch up?
The tightness in your chest, the overwhelm that comes out of nowhere, the familiar patterns that still pull you back.

That’s the space I work in — the moment between what happens and how you respond.

How We Work Together

Our work starts exactly where you are whether you’re stuck, overwhelmed, or simply know something has to shift.
Through somatic coaching techniques or trauma-informed Psychotherapy, we create space for your nervous system to settle so real change can happen.

We’ll gently look beneath the masks and survival strategies that once kept you safe but might not be serving you anymore.
Together, we move toward emotional resilience, a sense of home in your own body, and a life that feels authentically yours.

You’ll learn to:

  • Build emotional resilience when life feels overwhelming

  • Develop self-regulation that actually lasts

  • Heal trauma that lives in your body, not just your mind

  • Create calm and safety from the inside out

  • Set boundaries without guilt or fear

Why the Body Matters in Healing

You can think your way through something endlessly but if your body is still stuck in old patterns, nothing really changes.
Somatic therapy works with your whole self through:

  • Body-based awareness that honors what you’re actually feeling

  • Nervous system regulation so you can feel safe in your skin

  • Emotional resilience for the hard moments

  • Mindfulness and grounding in the here and now

  • Trauma-informed care in Psychotherapy that respects your pace and your process

My Story

I’ve been where you are.

I know what it feels like to shrink yourself, freeze, live with fear and anxiety, and repeat patterns you desperately want to change. My work is shaped not only by more than 25 years of professional experience, but also by my own journey through pain, growth and change.

I began my career as a traditional psychotherapist and, over the past 25+ years, have worked across Kenya, Canada and the UK with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. My experience has taken me through hospitals, psychiatric and crisis settings, grief and bereavement, private practice, coaching and corporate work. Over time, my approach evolved into the integrative and somatic work that now sits at the heart of what I do.

But my journey into somatic coaching was also personal.

After years of therapy and deep self-exploration, I found myself asking: If I understand myself so well, why am I still struggling?

I realized that insight alone isn't always enough. We can understand exactly why we behave the way we do and still find ourselves repeating the same patterns, feeling the same fear or living with the same anxiety.

That realization led me into a deeper exploration of the connection between our experiences, emotions and bodies—and transformed both my own life and the way I work.

I don't believe people are broken or need fixing. But I also don't believe you have to remain trapped in patterns, fear or pain that are dominating your life.

I believe change is possible.

I will walk alongside you when things are difficult, help you navigate the places where you feel stuck, and celebrate the changes that happen along the way. I bring my knowledge, experience and qualifications—but I also come with my heart.

And ultimately, I want to help you learn how to continue this work for yourself.

You don't have to stay where you are. And you don't have to figure it all out alone.
