Season 2 Episode 5 | It’s On Replay (why you spiral after conflict)

Episode Summary

Your mind won't stop.

You wish it would.

You've distracted yourself, thrown yourself into work, kept busy, watched another episode of something, ticked things off your to-do list... and somehow, there it is again.

The same thought. The same feeling. The same loop. It's strange, isn't it? You know thinking about it isn't helping, and yet, some part of you keeps returning anyway. So now you’re agonizing over what happened. But really you keep telling yourself that you just need to stop giving it so much attention.

But here's the wild part. If it were simply a matter of deciding to let it go.....you would have done that already. The thing is, our minds don't usually keep circling something for no reason, they circle the things that don't yet feel complete. Because something inside us still hasn't settled. And that's why these loops can feel so relentless. One thought becomes another. One memory becomes 3.

Before you realise it, you're no longer thinking about one moment. You're carrying the weight of every fear, every insecurity and every possibility your mind can imagine. It's exhausting. Because the spiral quietly becomes so much bigger than the moment.

Here's what most people don't realise. When we're emotionally activated, our bodies don't simply return to calm because time has passed. Part of us stays alert. Part of us keeps scanning. Part of us keeps trying to make sense of something that no longer needs solving. So the loop continues. Because your mind it trying to protect you.

That changes everything.

Now the question isn't, "How do I stop thinking about this?"

The question becomes,

"What part of me still doesn't feel safe enough to stop?"

In this episode, we're exploring why conflict has a way of pulling us into relentless mental loops, what's really happening beneath the spiral, and how a simple somatic practice can help your body do something your mind has been trying so hard to do on its own:

Finally let go.

The Invitation

If you have any upcoming conflict this week, or you find yourself replaying one that's already happened, pause.

Notice what you're actually afraid of. Is it what you're afraid it now means about the relationship?

Place your hands on your shoulders in a butterfly hug. Begin gently alternating your taps from one side to the other. Keep breathing.

Allow yourself to feel the fear without trying to fix it or think your way out of it. Stay with the tapping until you notice your body beginning to soften. Your nervous system needs isn't another answer. It simply needs reassurance that the danger has passed.

Work With Muneeza

One of the hardest things about getting stuck in a mental loop is believing that if you could just think about it a little longer, you'd finally feel better.

But lasting change rarely comes from finding one more answer.

It comes from helping your body discover that it no longer has to stay on guard.

That's the work we do together in somatic coaching.

Together, we gently work with the patterns your nervous system has been holding onto for years, helping your body move out of survival mode and into a place of emotional safety. As that happens, the spirals become quieter, your mind stops carrying yesterday into today, and you begin to experience something that overthinking could never give you:

Peace.

If you're ready to take that next step, I'd love to support you.
